ST. PAUL, Minn. (Nov. 4, 2014)—A host of University of Minnesota Extension staff and others were honored recently for work to help Minnesotans improve their lives through Extension research and education. The awards were presented by Extension Dean Bev Durgan at a recent Extension conference.
Sally Noll, Distinguished Campus-Based Faculty
Noll has been an Extension specialist and University of Minnesota professor for nearly three decades, specializing in turkey nutrition and overall production management. She has led Extension's poultry management program and recently was named a fellow of the Poultry Science Association, the highest honor for professional distinction and contributions to poultry science.
Jody Horntvedt, Distinguished Field-Based Faculty
Horntvedt has had numerous local, regional, state and national leadership positions, demonstrating her talents as a teacher, scholar and practitioner of leadership and civic engagement. In addition to providing leadership to the Red River Valley Leadership Program, she has co-authored the nationally recognized Building Leadership Programs Management Guide as well as U of M Extension's Social Capital Model.
University of Minnesota Tax Management Office, 2014 Distinguished Friend of Extension
Honors for the staff's work with the University of Minnesota Extension 4-H youth development program noted that "staff, volunteers, youth and clubs in every county of Minnesota have benefited from the hard work of these friends of Extension." Director Kelly Farmer and assistant tax directors Heather Broneak and Kirsten Muller were honored.
Institute for Ag Professionals, Distinguished Team
The majority of Minnesota's cultivated cropland is directly impacted by the audience the Institute for Ag Professionals serves through education. In addition to reaching audiences through various programs offering certification credits, the team develops and delivers needs-based workshops to respond to issues such as water conservation, herbicide resistance, insect pests, climate challenges and crop diseases. Extension Center for Youth Development Diversity and Inclusion Shared Learning Cohort, Distinguished Diversity and Inclusion
A variety of topics, including welcoming immigrant families and fostering religious inclusion, are the focus of seven educational videos that help the Extension Center for Youth Development reach its strategic target of increasing diversity and serving all of Minnesota's young people and families.

Tim Arlt, Distinguished Outstanding Leadership
An Extension program leader, Arlt has hired, supervised and mentored county educators in southern Minnesota and has provided leadership for programming including agricultural business management and Master Gardeners. His leadership style and focus on building relationships have positively impacted Extension faculty and staff, educational programs and Minnesota communities.
