Extension help for recovering from heavy rains, flooding

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/21/2016)—The University of Minnesota Extension has a wide range of resources to help Minnesotans hit by heavy rains.

Put safety first. This Extension video (at z.umn.edu/cleansafe) highlights important steps to take before dealing with flooding in a home. Go to z.umn.edu/mnfloods for topics including:

  • dealing with damaged homes, farm buildings and yards 
  • financial recovery 
  • crops and livestock  
  • handling stress 
The Answer Line, available to Minnesota residents at 1-800-854-1678, also offers information about flood recovery. It is staffed from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, in conjunction with Iowa State University Extension.
